Early breast cancer (EBC) refers to the condition in which breast cancer has not progressed to regional lymph nodes or only progressed towards armpit without distant metastasis. Today, surgical treatment procedures for EBC are less invasive and mostly local, providing a better aesthetic appearance with safe oncologic results.\u00a0Mastectomy is resection of entire breast together with the tumor. Breast conserving surgery (BCS) is removal of tumor from breast with a safe surgical margin, leaving the remaining breast tissue unchanged. Oncoplastic breast surgery (OBS) is a surgical procedure that combines BCS and reconstructive methods.<\/p>\n

Thanks to oncoplastic breast surgery, BCS can be practiced more often with less restrictions and superior oncologic and aesthetic results. Larger tumors can be removed with safe margins, and in addition to maintaining the breast contours, best possible results can be achieved. Recent literature shows that OBS is considered safe and more acceptable from oncologic and aesthetic perspective.<\/p>\n
